Jennifer Bozza CNM, FNP

“My work is so much more than a job, it is truly a passion & calling”

Jennifer’s journey into midwifery began with the birth of her first child. Feeling empowered by her own birthing experience, and wanting to make a difference for other women, she decided to pursue her education in women’s health and mother-baby care. She completed an undergraduate degree in nursing at Penn State University in 1993 and then served in the U.S. Air Force as a labor and delivery nurse for 6 years. Throughout her time in the Air Force, Jennifer worked with many wonderful nurse midwives, who inspired her to pursue midwifery training. In 1999, she graduated from the University of New York with her degree in Midwifery. From there, Jennifer returned to her hometown of Erie, PA, and started working as a hospital midwife for a busy OB/GYN practice. Over the next 6 years, she gained a great deal of experience working with a diverse group of women, attending over 600 births, and managing a variety of clinical situations. As time went on, it became clear to her that she could better serve women and babies if she practiced independently in a out of hospital setting. In preparation for independent practice, Jennifer returned to SUNY to complete a certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. After securing a collaborative agreement with some supportive physicians, she began attending home births in the beginning of 2007. Since then, she has welcomed over 100 home born babies into the world, and feels absolutely grateful that she is able to provide the type of holistic, family centered midwifery care that she has always dreamed of.

“Like so many midwives, my work is so much more then a job, it is truly a passion & a calling. I feel blessed to have worked with so many wonderful families & honored that they have invited me into their homes & included me at their births. I am forever in awe at the amazing strength & ability that birthing women possess, and how perfectly their babies come into the world in the simple presence of loving support & gentle encouragement..”
